Donald Reilly

1933 – 2006
Donald Reilly was a cartoonist best known for his work for The New Yorker, which published his cartoons for over four decades. Reilly was born on Nov. 11, 1933 in Scranton, PA, and earned a BA in English from Muhlenberg College in 1955 before serving in the U.S. Navy. He then attended The Cooper Union in New York, earning a certificate in fine arts in 1963. Just a year after graduation, he began selling his cartoons to The New Yorker, beginning a relationship that would last until his death in 2006, and resulted in 1,107 cartoons and 16 covers.
