Portable needle-work screen used to shield excess light and heat from lamps or fireplaces.  Made of rose wood, ivory and wool, the shield has a floral design in red, blue, tans and browns, and three tassels. It hangs on a horizontal bar with one ivory tip remaining.  The bar slides on a vertical wood pole set in a turned base.  Mid 19th c., US origin.  22" tall, 9" wide; base diameter is 3 1/2"
