Ceramic - Commemorative Creamware Cup and Saucer Set

circa 1930 (Date manufactured/created)
China (Creamwear)
Creamware black & white transfer printed handleless cup and saucer.  The saucer has a line drawing of Washington and "Washington His Country's Father".  The cup has a portrait of Washington on one side and a Lafayette on the other side. Cup is 1 3/4" high and 2 3/4" in diameter.  The saucer diameter is 4 5/8".
These commemorative items are reproductions, likely from  A.E. Gray and Company which operated in Hanley from 1913 through 1934, when they moved production to Stoke-on-Trent. They have a portrait of Lafayette after the Ary Scheffer painting of 1822.  These transfer prints in black are placed on an off-white background.  Some crazing appropriate to their modern manufacture.
