A straw bonnet, woven in a braid pattern, with a dark-toned natural color of straw. The bonnet is woven continuously through the low crown, which is placed at the back of the head, the brim, that frames the face in a horseshoe shape, and the cheek-tabs, which are not as long as other examples.
The bonnet is decorated with green floral brocade ribbon, with the details picked out in gold and white detailing. The ribbon has a slightly scalloped gold border edge. A pleated length of ribbon makes up the skirt, and one continuous ribbon that travels over the brim acts as ties with notched ends.
The bonnet brim is lined in cream colored silk, with a flat frill around the face, that encased a cord (now degraded) around the edge of the brim. The crown is unlined.
Condition: Poor to Fair, lining and ribbon deteriorating. OL 10 1/2, OW 7".
