Sword Scabbard - Ames Manufacturing Co.

1860s
Sword scabbard with leather body and brass hanging rings and throat. Looks to be a small ring of verdigris under the lower hook, and the scabbard is damaged. About 3/4 of the way down its length, it is broken and missing the bottom piece of its body. Slightly above that, the scabbard is again ripped, but only on three of the four 'sides.' There are also other cracks in the leather. Brass looks worn. Brass throat piece has inscription, "Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee Mass". Length is about 25" (may have originally been closer to 37"). Width is ~ 1 1/2" and depth is ~ 1/2".
