text on back of painting "Marie Benedict Mitchell". She is the youngest child of Aaron Benedict; her husband was the president of Waterbury Button Company, John S Mitchell. In the 1890s while in failing health she made a large donation to the 2nd Congregational Church in memory of her brother, Deacon Charles Benedict.
