Signed in pale red paint lower right corner "JOEL ANDERSON". Pencil inscription upside-down on bottom stretcher. Loosely painted scene of red barn in snow, bare trees, overcast sky. Joel Randolph Anderson trained with Minnie Rogers Steele in Waterbury and at the Art Students' League with George Bridgman, He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the Library of Congress, the Academy of Allied Arts, the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, and the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts. He also worked as a commercial artist in Waterbury.
