Brooklawn Weekly News

Collection, Ms B65

1932 – 1935
Fairfield Museum
From September 1932 to May 1935, three young men from the Brooklawn section of Fairfield published The Brooklawn Weekly News. The leaders of the venture were Arthur Williams, Bradley N. Hunt and Phillip D. Grout. Other neighborhood boys worked as paid reporters. Stories covered such subjects as social and club news, editorials, world and national news, holidays, church activities, sports, politics, and general knowledge, liberally sprinkled with satires, poems, jokes and puns. Subscribers paid five cents per issue and businesses in Fairfield and Bridgeport paid for advertising. For additional information, see the brief history written by Arthur Williams and an article from the Bridgeport Post located in the collection folder.
The collection consists of the weekly issues of the newspapers, arranged in chronological order.
