About

ConnecticutCollections (CTCo) is a project of the Connecticut League of History Organizations (CLHO). A customization of CollectiveAccess software, CTCo provides heritage and arts organizations of any size with a tool to help them to both privately manage and publicly share their museum and archival collections. The Contributors to this project are geographically spread across the state, are diverse in size and scope, and yet have many things in common. The objects and artwork that make up our material culture, and the documents that hold the documentary evidence, all help tell our stories.

CTCo is a resource for teachers and students, researchers, other organizations looking to learn more about their own collections, along with history and art fans. We strive to provide the public with resources that will give people a new appreciation for our history and for learning new things.

All our contributors are at different stages in cataloging their collections, and some records may be very complete while some could be relatively sparse; new and updated material is added every day, so check back often for new material.

A note on the content. Given that these documents and collections are from a different era and from a variety of sources, some of our records may contain offensive and discriminatory language, or reflect outdated ideas, practice and analysis. By sharing collections with the public, our member institutions invite dialogue with the public to review and update the records accordingly. Working on interpreting the past is something we are all working through.
