Fairfield Museum
Adam Grudzinski was born in Poland in 1879 and immigrated to the United States in 1902. He was married to Mary, who also immigrated from Poland, and they had a son, Louis, born in 1913. Adam worked as a gardener and caretaker for the Warner family at their Restmore estate, and also worked for Nellis Sherwood of Sound View Farm from 1926-29.
This collection includes incoming correspondence, mostly from Poland, dating in the 1910s and 1920s; bills and receipts for taxes and rent; a prayer book and items from Catholic churches in Bridgeport and Fairfield; photographs of Louis Grudzinski, and numerous unidentified family photographs including wedding and other photographs from Newark, New Jersey; Long Island; and Philadelphia, as well as snapshots presumably taken by the Grudzinski family.
