Collection, M-28

1868 – 1973
Mattatuck Museum
The Cookbook Collection contains cookbooks and recipes from 1868-1973 and ones that are undated.

The collection contains various cookbooks from many different groups in Waterbury. Some of the cookbooks include Hadassah recipes collected by Jewish women of Waterbury and recipes collected from women attending the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing. Also included are recipes from World War II as well as the 19th century. There are two volumes of the Handy Cookbook from 1889 and 1898. Interesting to note is a catalog about the history of Minced Pie published by W.A. Watts, Washington Depot, Connecticut circa 1890.

The collection will continue to expand based on sporadic acquisitions.
