Dr. Rufus Blakeman (1795-1870) was born in Monroe, Connecticut. He graduated from Union College in 1817 and from the Medical University of the City of New York in 1821. He immediately moved to Fairfield where he practiced medicine until he died. He was a member of the Medical Board of Examiners of the New Haven Medical School and president of the Connecticut Medical Association. He was also a probate judge in Fairfield for 24 years and a member of the state legislature. For further details, see folder D.
This collection consists of 1/2 box and two oversize items. Folder A contains legal and financial papers, folders B and C medical/moral dissertations, and folder D background information. The two oversize items are account books.
