Knight Family Photographs

Collection, Ms B132

1850 – 1920
Fairfield Museum
Edith Louise Knight (1901-1978) was a member of the first class to graduate from Fairfield High School in 1918. After graduating from Mount Holyoke College in MA, Edith taught in Fairfield High School from 1923-1924. She married Albert Edwin Hussey on August 1, 1932.

These tintypes were in the possession of Lester and Ina Knight (the parents of Edith Louise). The Knights came to Fairfield roughly between 1906-1910. The 1910 City Directory lists Charles L. Knight of Beaumont Street as a carpenter.
This collection consists of 14 tintypes, 6 daguerreotypes, and 5 black and white photographs of various members of the Knight family. Most are individual portraits.

Several tintypes and dagueereotypes have handwritten notes on the back that identify the individuals. Most are presumed to be the extended family of Lester and Ina Knight. Names included are: Caroline George Richardson, Annie Richardson, Abyah Richardson, Mrs. Chas (?) Whittemere, Sarah Waterhouse, Linisa Adila and Charlie Edwards.

The tin types and daguerreotypes in this collection are in good condition. Most are enclosed in cases.
