These papers revolve around Isaac Burritt (1769-1808) married first to Huldah Redfield (1776-1798) and second to Elizabeth Sherwood (1771-1826), and Burritt and Cannon, a shipping firm in New York. Isaac Burritt was master of the following sloops: Liberty, Dolphin, Marietta, Industry, Brilliant, and Anson. The connection between the Burritts and Cannons is unclear.
This collection consists of two boxes. Box 1, Folder A, contains deeds and probate papers; Folder B shipping papers; Folder C financial papers and correspondence; and Folder D shipping books. Box 2, Folders A through C, hold shipping account books, and Folder D general notes. Oversize Item A is a shipping account book.
