1964
Fairfield Museum
In a letter to John J. Sullivan, Fairfield's First Selectman, town planner and Fairfield resident Robert Bryan proposed celebrating the town's 325th anniversary in 1964. Bryan later served as secretary on the committee formed to plan festivities.
The collection consists of Bryan's initial letter to John J. Sullivan concerning the need to mark Fairfield's 325th anniversary, Sullivan's response, minutes of committee meetings, correspondence, lists of donors, and newspaper clippings collected by Robert S. Bryan. The minutes and correspondence are organized as they were received, in reverse chronological order. Material published as part of the celebration, including programs, proclamations, and a historical booklet, are arranged separately. The newspaper clippings were copied on to acid-free paper and are organized chronologically.
