Marshall received his Bachelors Degree in History from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. Grew up in Manchester and was active in Manchester politics and the community. He taught in the East Windsor School System where he established the Automotive Club; After teaching, he had a long career as an engineer with the Ford Motor Company, Boston District. Avid enthusiast of classic cars, over the years owning over fifty automobiles; he was known for his vast knowledge of them and regularly drove them, sometimes for hundreds of miles. He was a member of the National and New England Region of the Classic Car Club of America, North Atlantic Packards, and many other collector organizations. Marshall was a member of the Historical Societies of South Windsor, East Windsor, and Manchester.
