Salmon Hubbell

1754 – 1823
Salmon Hubbell was born in Wilton, CT in 1754, the son of Thaddeus Hubbell and Ruth Betts Hubbell. He was baptised in the Wilton Congregational Church on December 22, 1754. He served in the Continental Army in during the Revolutionary War, first enlisting in Hoyt's Company as a private in 1775, and late commissioned as a lieutenant in fellow Wiltonian Capt. Samuel Comstock's company in 1779. He fought at the Battle of Germantown and the Battle of Monmouth and received a pension for his service. He returned to Wilton after the war before moving to Bridgeport, CT in 1793. He became the city's first town clerk in 1821 before dying there in 1823.
