Brian Rutenberg

b. 1965
South Carolina native Brian Rutenberg now makes his home in New York City. He attended the School of Visual Arts in New york City where he met Neo-expressionist painter Gregory Amenoff.He took as job as Amenoff's assistant, which led to meeting sculptor and collector John Raimondi. Raimondi began collecting Rutenberg's paintings and placing other in public and private collections.Rutenberg paints nature, especially images from the landscape of his childhood, in an expressionist style.Rutenberg was awarded a Basil Alkazzi Award in 1992 and a Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation Studio Grant in 1993. In 1997 he he won a Fulbright Scholarship to Ireland as well as a Artists' Work Program Grant at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. In 2000 he received a Peter S.
