Ruth Gerth

1897 – 1952
Ruth Gerth was employed by Chase Brass & Copper Co. as a designer for several years.

The Gerths were partners in the design firm of Gerth & Gerth. Many innovative early Specialties carry the tagline “by the Gerths”, although only Ruth was featured in Chase promotional materials. Mrs. Gerth was one of the earliest and most prolific Chase designers, and was particularly noted for her imaginative reuse of even the most humdrum parts in the Chase inventory. In addition to her designs for Chase, Ruth Gerth also designed lanterns for the R. E. Dietz Company. William Gerth designed for Oneida China.
