Philip Grausman

b. 1935
Philip Grausman (born 1935), originally from New York City, now lives in western Connecticut. He studied with the sculptor Ivan Mestrovic while a student at Syracuse University. Grausman continued his education at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and studied with Jose de Creeft at the Art Students' League. He has won numerous awards and is represented in museum and university collections around the country.

Grausman has spent many years teaching at Yale. As a sculptor, his focus has been to "create monumental forms inspired by nature." Much of his early work reflects this interest in plants, insects, birds and animals.
