Curatorial Description
French Armand Marsaille black "Mammy" doll with bisque head, composition and wood body, c. 1894.  Has finely carved features; black eyes and a red mouth with 4 teeth.  Dressed in red flowered yellow gauze dress with lace at the collar and wrists.  Matching kerchief covers open head showing cord support system.  One leg missing at knee.
