Signature quilt created in memory of Capt. Joseph Hill, who died in 1816.  --The death in 1816 of Capt. Joseph Hill was commemorated by this quilt given to to his wife Sarah Banks Hill, a native of Fairfield who moved with him to Sullivan Co., NY, after the Revolution. Folliowing Joseph's death, Sarah married Ebenezer Carrier in 1826. This quilt may have returned to Fairfield when Sarah's daughter Aretta married Fairfielder Alonzo Staples.
