When the British occupied Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick during the French and Indian War, they destroyed many villages and deported the French Acadians to British colonies and France. Eleven of them were sent to Guilford in 1755. Among them, the Hebert family reportedly lived in the Acadian House at 37 Union Street until 1772. One of them, possibly Elisabeth or Marie Hebert, made this strip of lace.
