Picket, a Native American who lived in Guilford, made this wooden skimmer. He was also a blacksmith, a maker of baskets and brooms, and a soldier for the English in the French and Indian War. His death in 1793 was recorded in Guilford's "Bill of Mortality," a list of everyone who passed away in town between 1746 and 1840.
