Trunks were used for storage in the home and during travel. This trunk features the inscription “S / 1706 / B S” on the lid made with brass stud nails. It may have belonged to Deacon Benjamin Stone (1678-1753) and his wife Sarah Stone (?-1753). They lived in East Guilford, which is now called Madison.
