Goose Chest

circa 1700 (Date manufactured/created)
Pine
Closets were rare in 17th century homes, so chests were used to store clothing, blankets, sheets, and other textiles (items made from cloth). This chest features its original hinged lid with a deep well for storage of bulky items, and one drawer at the bottom. See the “Goose Chest” label to the right for more information about this chest.
