Whitfield House Plaque

Tennessee marble, Bronze bolts
This plaque was originally installed on the front wall on the west side of the Whitfield House in 1897 when it was still a private home. Made of Tennessee marble and attached to the house with bronze bolts, the plaque was moved next to the south side door during the 1930s restoration. It reads:

FIRST MINISTER
AND
THE LEADER OF THE FOUNDERS
OF GUILFORD
IN HONOR OF WHOM

OLDEST STONE HOUSE IN NEW ENGLAND
BY THE CONNECTICUT SOCIETY
OF THE COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA
