Large bit or augur with square handle flattened and split into an eye ring at the top, c. 1780-1800. This tool belonged to Emery E. Wildes (1835-1926) from Bath, ME.  He was a shipbuilder who settled in Madison after the Civil War, and worked at East Wharf in Madison and the Beattie Quarries in Guilford.. H: 29 3/4", DIA: 2 7/8".
