Oval watercolor portrait of Martha Scranton Hale Harts (7-28-1873 to 9-10-1954), painted by notable female artist Cornelia Adele Fassett (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornelia_Adele_Strong_Fassett) in Washington, D.C. in 1884.
Martha was the daughter of Mrs. Mary Scranton Brown Hale (8-23-1839 to 7-13-1899, ACC# 79.219) and granddaughter of Mary Elizabeth Prudden Scranton Brown and Rev. Gardner S. Brown, and was the wife of William Harts. Matted under glass in a rectangular gold gesso frame with beaded border. Signed and dated along bottom. H: 16 5/8" W: 13 3/4" sight; H: 22 1/8" W: 19 1/8" in frame.
