Portrait of Catherine Wilcox Nash (1824-1903) signed and dated by the artist in the lower left. History of the painting is inscribed in ink on the back."This little oil painting was done entirely from life so far as --- of figure and coloring. The proportions of the face were measured and done from a(n) older photograph to --- the fullness of normal health. -- the picture was painted after mamma's illness had shown itself in a loss of about fifty pounds - The change was not noticeable -- when dressed, nor in expression and coloring. The portrait was finished and very thoroughly approved by her - in March 1903 - F.N. King. Catherine Wilcox Nash God Given February 15th 1824. Called unto God, September 9th 1903."
