This dress from the fine silk merchant and dressmaker Comganie Lyonnaise is made from a silk taffeta, originally pastel purple, interrupted by satin stripes with an ikat flower pattern. The lining is a white figured silk with a pattern of meandering lines. It is trimmed with interwoven bands of rouleux piping peppered with small pearls. a.) The bodice is fully lined and shaped by four front darts and structured with 11 bones - likely baleen. It is held secure with a wide twill waist tape that closes at the back with a two tined cinch buckle (labeled "PARIS; SOLIDE"). At center back, it closes with a silk spiral cord with a metal aglet (the remnants remain) via 18 hand-worked eyelets at the left edge and 19 at the right. It is further closed with 3 sets of hooks and eyes. A modesty panel is sewn to the left edge. The neckline and waistline parallel each other in a V shape. The neck is trimmed with a long lace frill and the hem with a sash. The short sleeves are gathered into a small pouf and trimmed at the edge. The bodice front is formed with a gathered and pintucked overlay.  b.) A belt overlaid with Celtic motifs in braided rouleaux trim and a rosette at the pointed end. It closes with 2 sets of hooks and eyes. c.) The skirt is unlined but faced doubly with a longer starched facing and a shorter cotton facing. The abundant train's hem is stuffed with wadding minimally. The front and side panels are decorated with a matching long lace frill and trimmed with rouleux and pearls. It closes with 3 sets of hooks and eyes on a grosgrain ribbon, on which the makers mark "COMPAGNIE LYONNAISE, Boul. des Capucines 33 PARIS" is stamped. The skirt is box pleated for fullness on the right side of the closure. A lone button also resides on the waistband.  The placket is closed with a clip and hook. The skirt is controlled with an internal tape. Condition: Good. Silk cracked at place of folding. Some staining in bodice front lining.
