Adzes - 3 Stone Adzes

1000s
Granite
Stone A (largest) would have been used as a hoe. A stick would be pressed against the flat side of the stone and bound there with rope running along the stone's groove. Hoes like this one were often used to chop trees down; a fire would be built around a tree and Natives would chip away at the weak charcoal using the hoe. Stones B (medium sized) and C (smallest) would have been pecked and grinded by other stones to create the wide grooves visible above their bases. The stones would then have been hafted and used as adzes.
