During a violent nor’easter, the schooner Robert Morgan en route from New haven to Richmond rammed through the ballroom of Howard’s Pier in Atlantic City then came ashore on the beach at Kentucky Avenue. The three-masted schooner became a tourist attraction and people paid admission to board and tour her. Five months later, she returned to sea and was taken to Philadelphia for repairs.
