Costume, Beachwear - Teal Wool Bathing Suit

1920s (Date manufactured/created)
Wool
Beachwear loosened up in the late 1910s and 1920s. Suits of this era permitted the unfettered appearence of the body, forgoing previous styles of bathing costumes that obscured skin completely.
A.) The bathing suit is composed of a wool knit in teal green. The suit is composed of a long sleeveless tunic, closed at the shoulder with two black buttons only on one side. The circular neckline is a high in the front and very low in the back. The hem has a contrasting band of wide, light brown and thin, dark brown stripes above a single, dark brown stripe.
Below the tunic are a pair of attached shorts, that only just peak out from the tunic hem.
The hems are turned under and overlocked, except the shorts that are simply topstitched. The seams are topstitched on both sides.
B.) The bathing suit is accompanied by a blue and white striped belt with a silver clasp depicting sailboats, inscribed with "REAL BRASS".
Condition: Very Good. A few moth holes. L: 30".
