"Rock Island Line" is one of several compilations of recordings by folk musician Lead Belly. After he was discovered by father and son folklorists John and Alan Lomax, he spent much of the 1930s and 1940s recording dozens of original and traditional folk songs. 89 of these songs were recorded during his stay in Wilton in the winter of 1935. "Rock Island Line" was released by Folkways Records in 1953, four years after Lead Belly's death.
