A) High-crowned hat of dark taupe satin trimmed with taupe plush; brim is very narrow (1”) and is lined on the underside with violet-colored satin; crown has an intentionally “crushed” look; lines of black stitching decorate the plush trim, which is applied to the sides of the crown in points and around the base as a hat band; the interior is lined with an orange and grey changeable silk; crown has label for Hartford department store Sage Allen & Co, Inc., with a shield emblem B) Dagger-shaped hatpin is white metal with paste stones and large, irregular pearl in center; the hat probably came with this pin as its shape echoes the trim design
