Pen and ink, and ink wash on paper. Westport artist Tracy Sugarman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, participating in the 1944 D-Day amphibious invasion of Normandy. He documented his experience in the war in sketches and illustrated letters home to his wife. Many of his wartime sketches were acquired by the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress, and published in Sugarman's illustrated memoir, My War: A Love Story in Letters and Drawings (Random House, 2000).
