Graphite and charcoal on paper. This drawing was created as a cartoon for The New Yorker by Alice Harvey, one of the first cartoonists for the publication. Harvey started her work for the magazine in 1925 while living in New York, and continued after she married and moved to Westport, taking the name Ramsey. She created three covers for the magazine, and numerous cartoons - including ones like this drawing featuring life with children.
