Dr Jesse Porter (1777-1833) of Waterbury was the son of Dr Preserved Porter. Jesse was known as a man of eccentric character, but considerable ability and wide reputation as a surgeon. His office was located at the corner of East Main St and Mill St. He built a stone house for himself, still standing, on East Main St across from Hamilton Park.
