This is print 12 of 20 from the Bicentennial Pageant of George Washington issued in cooperation with the United States George Washington Bicentennial Commission and with its approval. The set was edited by John Taylor Arms with Harry Ogden as associate editor and Dorothy Noyes Arms as a contributor. The set includes 20 original etchings, each executed and signed by a distinguished American artist, with an essay on the national hero by Dixon Ryan Fox of Columbia University. It was published in New York in 1932.

This print depicts: "The Commander-in-Chief checks the furious speed of his mount and, with sword upraised, angrily rebukes General Lee whose troops are retreating."
