Oil
canvas, painting
Thickly applied paint depicts a winter landscape with a small group of trees on the left and a larger group or line of trees at right and a hillside in the middle. A solitary tree, bare of leaves, stands along hte right edge of te painting. The lower third of the piece is filled with thick globs of green, yellow, and red paint suggesting plants which can be seen poking though the snow cover. The light blue sky is streaked with pink clouds. -- George Brainerd Burr (b. 1876, Middletown, CT; d. 1939, Old Lyme, CT) was a landscape and figure painter.
