+has several features characteristic of Newtown, CT area furniture-makers; slender vase splat on back and central turnings front stretcher. the three-channel carving on foot and champhered "shoe rail" at base of back splat are not typical for Newtown. The "ears" of hte crest rail and slight carved feet are unusual, but may reflect Federal style influence on maker.
