circular disk-shape body overall; raised relief decoration and text front and rear. Front decoration: bust of man within circle looking right left-center text above head "J. M. L. Scovill" and bust of man within circle looking left at right-center text above Wm. H. Scovill; each bust having leafy garland above & below; text body top center "Scovill Manufacturing / Company" and bottom center "1802 - 1902 / Waterbury Conn". Rear text: middle area from upper center to middle/center area "Presented / By The Company / To / Edward W Goss / 1802 / Abel Porter & Co. 1811 / Leavenworth Hayden & Scovill / 1827 / J. M. L. & W. H. Scovill / Scovill Mfg. Co.". The 'Edward W Goss' on horizontal rectangular plate-like panel on drawn-open scroll decoration. Y-shape holly/olive branch bottom center extends upward to left and right partially framing noted text. Text around outer edge area from lower left around to lower right "Centennial of the Founding of the Scovill Manufacturing Co." and has beaded edging. Case: square paper-board covered with dark brown leather; push-button release clip closure front center and hinged clam-shell body; interior lined with purple satin and velvet; interior square hinged panel as frame holds medal within circle. Edward W Goss was a CT state rep in Hartford according to donor.
