An American edition printed in stereotype of a book of private devotion for young children. It was previously published in England in 1844. This copy retains its original publisher's gilt-stamped blue pebbled cloth, and has some early ownership inscriptions to the front free endpaper in pencil ("E.J.. Nash or rather Lissie from Father") and ink ("From Sister Lissie To Alice"). Presumably, this was given to "Lissie" as a child, who grew up and gifted it, in turn, to a young Alice. A nice example of Victorian gift-giving. 13 cm, 109pp. Our copy lacks the leaf containing pp.93-4.
