12mo (140 x 125 mm), pp. 96 with frontispiece and illustrations throughout, most hand-coloured. In original publisher's plum pebbled cloth stamped in gilt and blind. Bookplate and ink stamp of MHS to front pastedown and title-page, respectively.

Later edition of a children's book of cautionary tales in verse attributed to Elizabeth Turner. "Cautionary" seems to be the key word here, as we see in "The Truant" on page nine:

"Children, who delight to ramble, /
When it is not a holiday, /
And o'er hedge and ditch to scramble, /
All for love of truant play; /
Must have tasks and lessons double /
To make up for time misspent, /
And besides this double trouble, /
Must have proper punishment."
