The interview was conducted by Jerry Lombardi and Jan Stackhouse on May 7, 1981. A partial transcript available. John Monagan was Mayor of Waterbury from 1943 to 1948 and served as Congressman from 1959-1972. His grandfather was a hand caster in the early 1900s, and was an independent contractor for Scovill's. Monagan discusses the brass industry, Waterbury Irish community, and local politics.
