Hyotha Hofler gave an oral history Interview conducted by Jeremy Brecher on May 12, 1981 for the Brass Worker's History Project. PDF of partial transcript available. Hyotha Hofler had great knowledge about the African American history in Connecticut, and especially Waterbury. He discusses slavery, the Revolutionary war, black migration from the south in the early 1900s. He speaks about the North Square neighborhood, the protests [labelled riots] of the 1960s, and the federal court order to 1973 requiring integration via busing. Due to the poor quality of the 2 cassette tapes the interview was originally on, only tape 2 is available.
