Grace Cummings and Fred Kelly gave an oral history interview with Jeremy Brecher on June 2, 1981 as a part of the Brass Worker's History Project. A partial transcript is available. Grace Cummings tells about the experiences of black factory workers and patterns of discrimination as detailed by her mother who worked at Scovill Manufacturing Company; her father who worked in the casting shop; and herself working at Uniroyal. She discusses safety hazards and conditions before and after the unions. Fred Kelly speaks about his experiences in the casting room and union activity at Bristol Brass. Only side one of the original cassette tape was able to be digitized.
