King David Holmes gave an oral history interview with Jeremy Brecher and Jerry Lombardi on June 23, 1981. A partial transcript is available. King David Holmes came to Waterbury as an infant in 1923 and he later worked at Scovill Manufacturing Company. His father, uncle and brother also worked in brass factories and were all active in union activities. He discusses civil rights and employment opportunities for black people in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s in the Waterbury region.
