Victor Vaitkus was a crane operator at Scovill Manufacturing Company. This oral history interview was conducted by Jeremy Brecher on October 14, 1980 for the Brass Workers' History Project. A partial transcript is available. Victor Vaitkus was born in Lithuania and came to Waterbury in 1949. He worked for 27 years as a crane operator in the rod mill at Scovill's. He talks about WWII and the post war years when he was one of 300 Lithuanian refugees arriving in Waterbury. Also speaks about the Brooklyn neighborhood in Waterbury.
